Reset the timer?

Privacy

Your timer stays on your device. Visits are counted without cookies. There is no advertising.

This page explains what happens to your data when you use BeepWhenDone. The short version: nothing about your timer leaves your device, visits are counted anonymously, and nothing on the site follows you around the web.

1. Your timer

The time you set, the countdown in progress, your chosen alarm sound, the volume and whether you want notifications are stored in your own browser, using its local storage. That is what lets a timer survive a reload or a closed tab. None of it is sent to the server or to anyone else, and you can clear it at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser.

After your first visit your browser also keeps a copy of the pages, so the timer works without a connection. That copy is stored on your device and nowhere else.

If you allow notifications, your browser shows them itself. The site never receives anything back from them.

2. Visitor statistics

Visits are counted with Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. For each page view it records the page address, the referring site, the browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language and country. Your IP address is used only to work out the country and is not stored. None of it identifies you, and none of it includes anything about the timer you set.

No Google Analytics, no tracking pixels, no session recording, no heatmaps and no behavioural profiling.

3. Fonts

The typeface on the site is loaded from Google Fonts. To deliver it, your browser connects to Google’s servers, which receive your IP address and browser details as part of that request. Google’s own privacy policy covers what it does with them.

4. Server logs

Like nearly every website, the server keeps standard access logs. They record the requested address, the time, the browser, the referring page and the IP address. They exist to keep the site running and to spot abuse, and they are not used for anything else.

5. Advertising

There is no advertising on BeepWhenDone at the moment, and no advertising cookies. If that changes, this page will be updated first to name the advertising partners and explain what they collect, and visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland will be asked for consent before any advertising cookie is set.

6. Children

The timers are general purpose tools and are not aimed at children. No information is knowingly collected from anyone under 13.

7. Your rights

If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the right to ask what personal data is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how it is processed. In practice there is very little to act on: the only personal data on this side is the IP address in the server logs, kept on the legal basis of a legitimate interest in keeping the site running and secure. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

8. Who runs the site

BeepWhenDone is run by one developer in Denmark. For any question or request about your data, including who operates the site, send an email and you will get a reply from a person.
